1934 00-42 // Inquire for price
These pearl-topped Martins are far and away as rare as you can get and THE HYPE IS REAL! A true once in a lifetime purchase for a collector or player.
The original owner (pictured below) played this guitar in a "coondog" lap style and has had some EXPERT finish touchup near where his hand would have rested. The G-tuner has been replaced with a period-correct grover. The bridge is an excellent modern replacement and it has been refretted.
“Serial number 58304 was stamped on November 21, 1934 and cleared final inspection on January 15, 1935. It was shipped to Volkwein Brothers in Pittsburgh PA on June 6, 1935.
It is from the first batch of 00-42's made with a steel T-bar and T-frets.
There were twelve 00-42 guitars made in 1934.
Six had the ebony bar neck reinforcement and bar frets and six had the steel T-bar and T-frets. About 1,000 guitars after the introduction.
Three of the guitars with bar frets were shipped with gut strings.”
