1920s Vincenzo Spadea

$6,250.00 On sale

Lightweight, huge sound, old as heck - all features we love around here! Vincenzo Spadea owned a music store in New York in the early 1900s where he sold sheet music, woodwind/brass instruments, and, of course, guitars. It’s hard to know exactly who made this, but whoever they were they had a good eye for materials and construction: spruce top, Brazilian rosewood back and sides, abalone inlay on the ebony fingerboard/bridge, and wonderfully intricate purfling and rosette work throughout. The guitar has a few repaired cracks here and there, but the setup is perfect. Low action with tons of saddle to work with! As far as we can tell the text on the label translates to:

“Italian band and orchestral instruments – repair workshop General agent for the U.S. for the Maino & Orsi factory of Milan. Specializing in violins, mandolins, guitars, and accordions. Music for everyone”
