A rare and fine example of some of Gibson’s best work! These guitars were built in small batches to commemorate the 1933 - 1934 “Century of Progress” Chicago World’s Fair, and the attention to detail and high end ornamentation truly live up to that momentous occasion. The pearloid fingerboard and Brazilian rosewood inlay may be the first thing that catches the eye, but this L-C is decked out in every other way possible: Adirondack top with the original hand-rubbed Cremona finish (usually reserved for Gibson archtops), figured maple back + sides, and the original bridge/pickguard/tuners/nut/frets. It’s received a neck reset at some point, has two cleanly repaired hairline grain splits on the top, and two small holes in the back of the headstock - perhaps from a previous primitive strap system. Its voice is clear and punchy, with volume that exceeds expectations for its small size and light weight.
